Th e Livestock Department on Avenue "F" is ready to welcome you to the 156th edition of the Bloomsburg Fair. We are excited and want to remind everyone about the great shows the 4-H horse and pony drill team perform daily in the livestock area this is a show you will not want to miss. We are very excited to be able to share the following with you: Diehl's (2) Belgium's, Gypsy Vanner horse, Pair of Oxen, Miniature Donkeys & a (6) Horse Percheron Cinderella Hitch from BeeTree Trail Farms. These gentle giants weigh close to a ton (a piece) and will be on exhibit daily. We are incorporating NEW this year in the livestock area - public barn tours at 10:30am and 4:30pm daily. Also you may schedule a private barn tour prior to fair for your group or class if desired. This year we are continuing to have a livestock scavenger hunt for all ages. All these activities are to help educate the public about the dairy industry, animal products, and livestock in general. Any child 12 years old and younger completing the scavenger hunt or barn tour will receive a prize.
We have very competitive livestock shows throughout fair week for Dairy Cattle, Sheep, Dairy Goats, Swine & Breeding Beef. We have a 4-H Angus & AOP breeding Beef livestock shows on Monday. The 4-H kids get to show off their Dairy Cattle, market lambs, steers, goats and swine during the 4-H shows. There will be a sale of the 4-H market animals in the small arena on Friday night at 6:00. This sale gives 4-H members a chance to make money for college or put towards a business. 4-H club members will be offering to have your picture taken with a calf, lamb, horse or goat. Watch the dairy cows being milked in our milking parlor.
Custom meat cutting will be demonstrated by Gensemer's Meat Company Wednesday at 10am. Agility Dogs will perform on Tuesday at 7pm and Thursday at 5pm. We are very excited about our Horse Pulling contest and have received some sponsorship to be put towards the premiums. The pony pulling on Saturday is always a well attended event.
The ever popular corn box is in great shape this year, thanks to our Fair Maintenance, and ready for the Hundreds of Kids that play in this daily.
The news media is invited to attend the 24th annual hoe-down to be held in the Large Arena on Wednesday evening at 7pm. The following companies are proud to be sponsors of the event held for exhibitors and their families.
