BLOOMSBURG FAIR SURVEY RESULTS

After sorting the overwhelming responses to our Grandstand survey, it appears that we will have a good idea of the types of acts we will try to book for the 2008 Bloomsburg Fair.

Some of the top acts that were voted for in the Country Western category include, Sugarland, Big & Rich, Jason Aldean, Taylor Swift, Kelly Pickler and LeAnn Rimes. In the non Country area, Breaking Benjamin was a leading choice followed by ZZ Top, Lynard Skynard and Staind. The Jonas Brothers and Ally & A. J. were the top groups voted on that would appeal to a younger audience.

For those looking for nostalgia, Willie Nelson, The Beach Boys, and Chicago were high on the list.

Many other groups on the list received many votes and will be looked at also. We received many requests for a return of Josh Turner. Many people suggested other acts and we will definitely consider some of them. It would be difficult, for instance, for us to pay the amount requested by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill or Rascal Flats and still be able to offer the two free grandstand tickets that our Bloomsburg Fair Association Members receive and, so richly deserve.  It must also be pointed out that the above mentioned “Big Acts” will not play on a stage like ours. They want a stage that is 35 to 50 feet high.

We have looked into some of the top groups on our voting list and have found that some of them would not be able to play at Bloomsburg because of other engagements already contracted for within 90 days of the fair and within a defined area surrounding Bloomsburg.

Sincerely,
Carey Howell
Superintendent of Grandstand
